Mission Statement

MorningStar.Charity is an ecumenical Christian apostolate of Divine Mercy that is in conformity with the teachings of the Catholic Church and founded under the patronage of Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre in Cuba. In this apostolate, morning star or “light-bringer” refers to Jesus and Mary interceding as Advocates before God the Father in order to enlighten and empower Christians in bringing their light to the nations. The mission of MorningStar.Charity is in bringing light and help to dark places: (1) through evangelizing and teaching, especially on marriage and the family, and by activating Christians to walk in the wisdom and power of the Holy Spirit, especially in consoling and healing the afflicted; and, (2) through distributing direct assistance, such as food and medicine, and by promoting private initiative.

This mission will involve collaboration with other Christian apostolates, but will especially support and complement that of the Missionaries of Charity founded by Mother Teresa of Calcutta in India.

“The problem in places that suffer an oppressive atmosphere of darkness isn’t really the darkness, it’s the lack of light. People need help in becoming light and in learning the difference between being a thermometer and a thermostat. A thermometer simply reflects the temperature of the atmosphere, while a thermostat helps to set it.”

Deacon Fred Everett, President of MorningStar.Charity
